Prenatal Lactation Education
This hour and a half in-home class will cover the basics of lactation as well as address any specific issues or challenges that may be unique to your family. A parent questionnaire will be reviewed and breast/chest exam will be performed. Topics covered include:
Good latch
Establishing a milk supply
Feeding on demand
Anatomy and physiology of nursing
Normal Infant weight gain and development
Breast/ Chestfeeding in Special Circumstances
This hour and a half in-home class is for parents or parents to be with unique circumstances including but not limited to:
Nursing an adopted child
Relactation or induced lactation for non-gestational parents
Postpartum Lactation Consultation
Parents sometimes need assistance with lactation after their baby is born for a variety of reasons: premature baby, sore nipples, poor latch, infant weight gain, milk supply issues, exclusive pumping, returning to work, weaning, introducing solid foods, and many more. During this appointment a full history and assessment of you and your baby will be made. Your questions and concerns will be addressed and a care plan will be made to reflect and work towards your nursing goals. Follow up appointments can be made as needed.
